Mission

OUR MISSION:
To empower communities using urban agriculture to feed themselves, using organic methods, and promote health, nutrition and well being.

OUR VISION:
A network of sustainable and accessible gardens for and by a partnership of residents and youth.

OUR GOALS:
We are dedicated to empowering efforts toward growing fresh produce using organic methods that promote health, nutrition, and well being.

  • Educating: Using our strong partnership with Michigan State University Extension, we will provide youth programs through 4H and the Master Gardner program. This year we will be providing two interns from the 4H to put on summer camps provided by Parks and Recreation.
  • Synergy: To meet these goals, we propose supporting multiple projects, accessible community gardens, and educational gardens centered around a new production farm. The synergies of the multiple projects are leveraged to appeal to many constituents and offer multiple avenues for participation and outreach.
  • Sustainability: The garden structure is intended to be mission driven and create a revenue stream to support ongoing NGC and community programs. In order to provide a sustainable structure, our objective is to involve as many different constituents with the goal of making a community garden run by the community.
